Curl Talk

Calling all Curly Girls…Anyone with curly hair get women with straight hair say, “Your hair is so pretty, I wish I had curly hair!”  But having a good curly hair day is more difficult than it looks. That’s why I created this section…to share with you my hair routine for beautiful and healthy curls.

I was born with naturally curly hair.  All my life, I’ve gone through exhausting measures to straighten it.  I dreaded getting ready in the morning because it took forever to get my hair just right.  A half an hour of blow drying and then another 20 minutes with the straightening iron.  Not only time wasted but all the damage I was doing to my hair.  Then to go outside and have it all frizz up because the weather conditions weren’t just right…UGH!!!!!

In addition to the rigorous straightening routine, I used to highlight my hair.  It was great for a time…it even covered up the little grey hairs that were coming in.  But there came a time when the grey hairs were coming in fast and furiously.  My hairdresser told me that I had to start thinking about dying my hair.  That was out of the question for me.  I was done being a slave to my hair.  That’s when I decided to go natural.  It was one of the best things I ever did.  I not only look better, but my hair is much more healthier.  I can’t believe all the compliments I get now on my hair.  I can’t go anywhere where someone doesn’t compliment my curls.  And, from an array of people….young, old, men, women!

So let me share my curly secrets with you that will keep your waves and curls looking shiny and strong.   If you have a routine you’d like to share, please feel free to do so.  Your positive thought are always welcomed and appreciated!

Daily Routine:

I wash my hair every other day using DevaCurl NoPoo and One Conditioner.  While my hair is soaking wet, I apply DevaCurl Ultra Defining Gel starting midway to the ends.  Then, using DevaCurl FrizzFree Volumizing Foam, I scrunch it into my hair.  Taking a t-shirt (not a towel) I dry the excess water.  I then apply a generous amount of DevaCurl B’Leave In.  I attach the DevaCurl Devafuser to my hairdryer and on a cold setting, run it through my hair, trying not to disturb the curls.  Lastly, I “finger shake” the roots to fluff out the hair.  Lastly, I apply DevaCurl Set It Free Spray.

Weekly Conditioning Routine:

After cleansing my hair, I mix DevaCurl Melt Into Moisture Conditioning Mask with Now Tea Tree Essential Oil.  Apply the mask all throughout my hair in small pieces and untangle hair using a Denman Brush or wide tooth comb. Once my hair is fully conditioned and untangled, I put a shower cap over my hair and let the mask set in for about 15 to 20 minutes.  Then I rinse out the conditioner and style it using DevaCurl B’Leave In Miracle Curl Plumper, DevaCurl Supercream and finish with DevaCurl Set It Free Spray.  Now it’s time to diffuse my hair and finger shake the roots and I’m ready to go!
